And the number one method to manage your MP3 files is from your home PC through a USB port on your MP3 device. In addition to this “must-have” USB port, you also “must-have” an audio port for an external speaker or headset. In order to keep size down, it is important to minimize external ports by combining signals where appropriate.
Pericom has created the worlds first single chip solution that supports USB 1.1, USB 2.0 Full Speed, USB 2.0 High Speed, and high fidelity audio signals. It enables the user to route all signals through two pins with simple 2-bit logic control. The device can be powered by Vbat, which is from 2.7V to 4.2V +/-10% and can be controlled with a 1.8V CMOS controller. Also, Pericom’s solutions only require a PCB area of 5.25mm.
